Reunion

Last Saturday we went back to the place where it all began.  The NICU at Northeast Georgia Medical Center was having a reunion for their former patients & parents.  We told the kids we were going to see the doctors & nurses who took care of them for 8 weeks.

Here they are for the first time all together since being born
Charlotte, Evan & Ellie - NICU April 2009
This is one of the doctors that took care of them - Dr. Cabrera
Resp. therapist Lisa, Nurse Cindy & our favorite Nurse Caroline
They had games, food, clowns and face painting.
Evan's red football
Ellie's rainbow
Charlotte's rainbow & clouds
They had a lot of fun and keep talking about going to the hospital to get toys.

VBS 2012

Last week was Vacation Bible School time.  This year's theme was Amazing Wonders Aviation.  The kids were in the toddlers class again and enjoyed every minute.  This year they marched in with the older kids.  Do you think Evan was excited?
Sitting with their class waiting on the offering bowl.
Matthew and I were in charge of the music again this year.  Of course the kids knew the theme song from watching me practice.
Snack time with their class.
One night they came in the music room to do some songs.  Where is Charlotte?
She was sitting in the hall because she was crying because she wasn't being held.
The last night we had pizza and they enjoyed eating with the bigger kids.
Playtime

Charlotte absolutely loves older girls.  Someone is always holding her.  She loves it.
 Charlotte loves Ashley

The kids love going to church and I'm so thankful for a loving church.

Ellie's Special Day

We don't get much only time with each child.  We decided to take each one out for a special date with just mom and dad.  Ellie is really athletic & energetic so we thought roller skating would be fun for her.  She had seen an episode of Max & Ruby where they go skating so she was all excited.

We left the other 2 with Carli, but poor Evan was not happy that he was not going with us.  Charlotte was in heaven in Carli's lap. Ellie was a little sad she didn't get to stay and play with Carli. The skating rink didn't open until 2:00 so we went to Sam's and Ellie ate all kinds of snacks they were giving away.  We went to Chili's next and of course she wasn't hungry from all the food she ate at Sam's.  She got to play Angry Birds on the kindle and enjoyed her alone time.
We got to the rink at 2:00, got our skates on and tried to make one lap without falling.  Poor Ellie just could not stand up and I was afraid she was going to pull me down.  She really liked the music and the fun lights, but the roller skating was not fun at all.  We made it half way around and she was done.  She took those skates off and said let's go somewhere else.  We were there maybe 15 minutes, so we got a refund and took her to her favorite place for a treat.

Now that's better - ice cream
This girl can eat a ice cream cone so fast she had to help me with mine.
While trying to find somewhere else to take her Matthew saw one of those parking lot carnivals.  We drove over to see if it was open.  It was not crowded at all so we got to ride the rides and for a long time too.
Ferris Wheel

We rode the Tilt-A-Whirl I think for 5 minutes.  I thought I was going to get sick because they just kept going and going.  I kept sliding and Ellie would say "I gotcha momma"
After that we rode the bears and after riding the tilt-a-whirl so long and this spinning bear I was a little woozy.
She played a little fishing game and won a blow-up dolphin, so they went on a ride together.

Ellie in the circus cage.
We had a great day and I have to say having only 1 kid was so easy.  She did miss Evan & Charlotte and I'm sure they missed her too.  She was ready to get home to see them and of course Carli.  We hope she had a great time as an only child.

Ellie you are a spunky little girl and we love you so much.  This was your special day, but you make everyday special for us.

Happy Father's Day to a wonderful daddy and husband.  These three are crazy about their daddy.

We also love Granddaddy too, my wonderful daddy.

We had a nice day with a yummy lunch at Longhorns.  Thanks for everything you do Matthew.
We love you!

All Work and No Play?

We took a little work/play trip to Tybee Island last week.  We drove down on Wednesday and Matthew worked at the Savannah store on Thursday.  We had some company too.  My dad, mom, mom's caregiver Sylvia and her son Joseph came too.  Of course when we got there the kids were ready to see the beach.

Thursday morning it was rainy and windy, I had to pull out all my toys and crafts to get them through the morning.
It stopped raining so I got them dress to go out to the beach before lunch.  Of course it started raining again as we walked out the door.  My dad and I still took them and sat in the cold, windy rain while they had so much fun.  We stayed maybe 30 minutes and then came back to the house and got in a warm bath.
After nap time Matthew got home from work and it had cleared up, so back to the beach we went.
Ellie burying Evan's legs in the sand
They loved playing in the sand
Friday was a beautiful day, but windy.  A great day for kite flying.
Granddaddy & Evan flying a Buzz Lightyear kite
Evan really liked the waves this year.
Charlotte still didn't love the water, but was braver this year.

Ellie is just an active little girl.  She loves to run back and forth.

So Sweet
Waiting on a wave
Friday night we walked down the pier and ate some ice cream.

Evan wasn't happy having to share an ice cream with his sisters.
He was very happy when Granddaddy gave him the rest of his cone.

Ellie up in a big tree
Saturday morning the kids got a big treat.  Ice cream for breakfast!  We had to clean out the refrigerator and there was still some ice cream bars that we didn't want to throw away.  I don't think they understood that ice cream for breakfast was all that special.

On the way out we stopped by the lighthouse for them to see.
Can you find Ellie, Evan & Charlotte?
It was a fun quick trip.
