Myrtle Beach Trip 2012

Labor Day has come and gone so it's time to load the camper and head to the beach.  It's nice to be able to take advantage of the off season.  Less crowds, lower prices and all that.  The kids are absolutely in love with the camper.  It has proven to be a wise investment.  They started a week before counting down the days  We have toys that are just for the camper and they talk about going camping and seeing their camper toys.  Evan talks about his giraffe.  Ellie talks about her Vidia.  And Charlotte talks about her princess castle and dolls.  We have just about got the sleeping arrangements figured out.  The back of our camper has bunks that will eventually sleep them all but they are not ready for the top bunks.  Evan gets the big bed - because he is a squirmier.  Ellie gets the smaller bed - because she is a snuggler.  And Charlotte gets the kitchen table bed - because she is an early riser and will wake the others if she is in the room with them.  They did great sleeping this time.  They even took naps on some days.

The trip down was good.  We stopped in Columbia to visit some friends.  Their little boys were playing soccer so we met them at the soccer field.  They really had fun getting to get out and run about.  They now talk about playing sports, so we will see where that leads.  We got to the beach set up and then had dinner.  Jennifer woke up the next day and was not feeling well - sick as a dog.  I let her rest and got the crew up, feed them, and then we decided to go to the playground to get some energy out.  Later we hit the pool.  She was still not feeling good so we left her and went to do a little shopping and pick up some dinner.  Thankfully she was feeling much better the second day.  I really don't know how she takes care of them every day all day.  I  almost lost it a couple of times.  We brought a golf cart with us this year.  I now want one for myself.  It was real handy.  We enjoyed driving around and seeing the other campsites and the houses.  It was also a good way to break up the day with fun excursions (without having to load up in the truck.)  With Jennifer's help we tackled the beach.  Played for a little and then went to the pool.  Lunch, nap and then out on the town.  I was surprised that they did not want to spend more time at the beach or pool.  They were ready for change so we kept them busy.  This was our basic routine every day.

We did go play putt-putt one day.  They had fun.  The course we choose was a little disappointing.  It was a dinosaur theme but only had 3 dinos.  Evan picked up the concept and really liked it.  He stayed involved all the way to the end.  Charlotte had an interesting technique.  After her first shot she would place the ball right next to the hole and tap it in.  Ellie liked it but after a few holes she just wanted to see more dinosaurs.  I think Jennifer won.

Stay tuned for more.
