Feeding time at the Zoo

We have been asked "What is feeding time like?" by several people. I was late getting home tonight and this is what I came in to see.

Most of the time she has some feeding assistance - but in a pinch she can work the assembly line and keep them all from screaming their heads off. We can see their maturity everyday - they get easier and easier to feed. Up until last week, Charlotte and Ellie had to be fed by either Jenn or I, but now they enjoying some of our assistance. Feeding schedule has remained the same 1am, 5am, 9am, 1pm, 5pm, and 9pm. Evan usually is the first one up - and crying his head off. Sometimes he can be consoled enough to be patient but other times we have to hold him until feeding time. Evan and Charlotte are getting 100ml or 3.5oz per feed and Ellie is getting 80ml or 3oz per feed. They go for a weight check-up tomorrow - I'll post if I have time.

What are friends for?

Holding the triple smiths of course!!! We got a visit from some of our friends. They wanted to come see their new camping buddies. Don't get confused - that is not one of ours Jennifer is holding. It is the beautiful Maya Ballard and she was all smiles to get to see her new playmates.

The babies could not get enough of the new arms that were embracing them.

We enjoyed the visit and can't wait till our annual camping trip in September - and yes the babies are coming. We're going fishing, hiking, boating, swimming - oh who am I kidding - eating, pooping and sleeping will be the plan. Maybe we can do the other things the next year!

Babies in the Bed

You might think from the title that we have taken up bad habits by putting babies in the bed with us at night - but this is not the case. We do occasionally relocate a crier to another room to keep the others from waking - but not to the bed with us. I have good reasons for no babies in the bed most of which revolve around my fear of crushing or smothering a child. My fear has caught up with me. The other night I woke up about 30 min before feeding time half asleep and began to search the bed looking for a baby or two. I frantically patted around - moved pillows - pulled away sheets - but found no babies. Just as I had convinced myself that I was crazy and there were no babies in the bed - Jennifer woke up and said which one you got over there? This set the shock back into my system and I had to do another bed check. We both got a good laugh out of this, but the feeling has not gone away. Nightly I search the bed only to find I am by myself - no babies and no wife. She has already moved to the outlet room to console a crier or start the feeding process. Jennifer has been a trooper since I have gone back to work. She has tried to make me get as much sleep as possible but we both manage very little. She tries to catch a couple winks between feedings during the day but usually gets asleep and one of the three get her up.
Sorry for missing Picture Wednesday - we were experiencing an Internet outage.
Here are some shots.
