Vacation Bible School

This week was Vacation Bible School at our church. The theme this year was Boomerang Express and the babies attended every night. It was challenging to get them there every night by 5:45 for dinner but we did it. It was nice to have a break from our normal routine. They had a great time and enjoyed getting all the attention.

Here they are in their class with the Kangaroo and Koala bears.

They all took a turn riding the pony.

Ellie was pooped from all the fun and enjoyed being held by Jessica Whitley.

Here is Evan enjoying cuddle time.

Charlotte was all smiles for the camera.

Thanks to all the nursery workers this week that held and played with us. See ya next year at VBS, we won't be this STILL next year!!!!

Weigh In

When we go out we get a lot of questions. Are those triplets, how old are they, what are they girls or boys, and HOW MUCH DO THEY WEIGH? I guess I created the constant demand with the weight since for the first 8 weeks it was added to just about every post. Well today we went to the doctor for a scheduled check-up. Jennifer and I have been looking forward to this visit to get an accurate weight. Here are some pictures of the weigh-in.
Ellie

Evan

Charlotte

We were pretty sure that Evan was the biggest and that Ellie was the smallest but could not tell by how much. Here's the results:
Ellie DeMore Smith - 8lb 12oz
Evan James Smith - 10lb 11oz
Charlotte Rae Smith - 9lb 12oz
The doctor said they look great and are progressing just fine with no issues. Here's a shot of all three just before their shots. They did not like the shots!!!

Daddy's Day

I guess it takes being a dad to really appreciate what father's day is all about. As a kid, I know that I showed my dad appreciation but never considered what the day was actually like for him. I can only hope that he was able to feel the love that I did all weekend. Here's one of the last pictures I have of my dad with my nephew, Huck it was the day before Jennifer and I got married.
The father's day weekend started with a Saturday trip out on the town. We went to Buford to eat and do a little shopping. We started with a trip to Olive Garden while there we ate and also had to feed the babies here's a shot at the table.

After a lengthy lunch, we made the rounds doing some shopping. Before we knew it, it was time to feed the babies again - how about Starbucks inside a Target - yeah that works. We were gone most of the day and even though it was hectic at times it was all worth it.

My actual father's day started with an early morning false alarm from Ellie's heart monitor (yes the babies are still on the monitor - might be off soon). I sprinted to the room only to find her sound asleep. But in her bed was a book that I know was not there when we put her to bed. Her book was titled "Daddy's Girl". I finally got to read it to her last night.

After realizing what day it was, I rushed over to Charlotte's bed to see what she had gotten me. It was another book titled "Daddy Hug". She was too snug and asleep to bother, so I waited till morning to give her some love.

A quick check on the boy, and another book "Me and My Dad".
I can't wait to sit up and read them these and other books. They also got me a new picture to hang in my office. It was a compilation of baby pictures made in to a 11x14 poster. The dogs gave me a huge bucket of bubble gum - yum. Here is a shot of me with all three after church.

Granddaddy also celebrated father's day with us. He got a shot with Evan.

It was a wonderful weekend and I am so grateful and blessed. I can't wait for many more years of sharing life with my babies.

Future so bright, gotta wear shades!

Babies R Us is full of all kinds of gadgets, most of which parents would never need or seldom use. When Jennifer got home from an escape from the house shopping trip, she showed off some of her purchases. Little this and little that - but then she pulled out some sunglasses. My response was wow what or when would we ever need those? Little did I know - being a new dad as well as one that can barely take care of myself - sunglasses are an essential element if you plan on taking your babies out on the town, park, picnic, beach (not yet - but can't wait), and several other adventures. Plus once applied they look really cool! You be the judge.
