Time away & Tummy Time

It is a rare occasion that my job would keep me away from home, but this week I had to be gone one night. I missed seeing these 3 last night. Jenn sent me an e-mail with this picture.

Jennifer did have some help. Her mom and dad spent the night and helped her with the early morning and all day feedings.

When I got home tonight they were having some tummy time.

Fun Filled Day

Tuesday was a busy & fun day for us and the family. First the triplets had their check-up eye appointment. Everyone had their eyes dilated and checked. We got good news for all of them that their eyes looked good. We won't go back for a year. Here they are with their sunglasses since their eyes were dilated.
After their morning snack we headed to Hiawassee to the Georgia Mountain Fair. We try to go every year. Yes it's the same thing over and over again but as I have said before - we like to get out and do stuff. No since skipping this year and we had a great time. The whole family was there - Me, Jenn, Ellie, Evan, Charlotte, Jennifer's dad, mom, sister, two nieces, my mom, brother, and his three kids. Jennifer's brother-in-law was the only one missing from the trip - he had to work. This year was a little more than just walking around, riding rides, and eating fair food. We had three little attractions of our own to deal with. We drew a crowd but believe it or not there was a set of quads there as well. We met several nice people and loved showing off our babies. We were going to get them on the merry-go-round, but the line was too long and as you see from the pictures below they did not mind.

They slept most of the day. I guess the heat and the fresh air was just too much to take. They did not get the cotton candy or the candy apples we promised either - better luck next year!

Jenn & Friends

Saturday night we had a yummy dinner compliments of Jenn's friends Meredith & Heather. They went to North GA College & State University together. Here is a picture of the 3 of them.

Heather has a 21 month old daughter, Anna Kate. Here is Anna Kate with our 2 little girls. She enjoyed having them sit beside her at dinner.

Evan got some loving from Meredith and says thanks for the yummy dinner you made my mom and dad!

5 Months Old Today

Meet Charlotte
She is the vocal one in the bunch. She carries on and on but we do not understand what she is saying. We think she is talking whale like Dorie from "Finding Nemo." Yes the hair is still red and we love it. She loves to eat and is catching up with Evan. We are blessed with Charlotte's content behavior - she rarely cries or makes a fuss. She was the 3rd born but we decided to feature her first - gotta be fair.

Meet Evan
Our boy! He's just plain cute and he knows it. He likes to give us a grin and a chuckle. He is our best eater - of course he is, he's a Smith boy. He is also the alarm clock for the whole family. His cry is far different from the other two - loud and proud. He has lead the trips in just about every development category. Jennifer loves his hair style - it almost looks like a military crew cut.

Meet Ellie
Our first born and still the smallest. Unlike her brother and sister, she is a picky eater like her mama. Most feedings are a struggle. The good news is she was the first to really give us a laugh and she has had me entertained ever since. Her claim to fame is the pouty lip - she will get her way a lot! Her hair is long and fuzzy and has a slight auburn tint to it. Her eyes are deep blue and looks just like Evan and Charlotte's.

They all are sleeping from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am now and that makes mommy and daddy very happy. We have been blessed with so much in these 5 months and look forward to sooooo much more.

Getaways

Once finding out we were having triplets, I commented that we will be locked in the house for several years. I guess I feared the challenges of getting three babies out and about. The fear probably originated by seeing our family and friends either dread or struggle to get babies out on the town. Not to make fun of those we observed, but we love to get out. When at home our day is consumed with when do they eat next, feeding, and boring TV. Getting out is much better. Jennifer and I were never the type to just hang out around the house on the weekends - so no reason to start now. The reward far out weighs the challenge.

Here's a trip out to near by Helen. We got to eat at our favorite little cafe' - right on the river.

We did not want to take up too much time at the cafe' so we moved to some picnic tables on the river and feed the little ones their lunch.

We attended a family gathering in Anderson, SC. Yes, the first trip out of the state for the babies and definitely the furthest away from home. They did great - not a peep on the way there and Charlotte talked to us all the way home. What she said we don't know but she was really vocal for the first time. We did not get shots of all the baby holders but here are a few Great Aunts we did get. (Mary, Vivian, and Donna)

Not sure what adventure we will attempt this weekend.
