We went to the doctors office to have the official test, waited a couple hours, and then got the call "Jennifer you are definitely pregnant and your numbers suggest you might have more than one." We then had to wait a couple of weeks for an ultrasound. You can imagine our anticipation waiting for the ultrasound - is it one? Is it two? We were mentally prepared for either response. Sept 16th - doctors apt - ultrasound time! Laying up on the table for what seemed like an eternity - Jennifer laying their stressed out - I am holding her hand praying for good news. The tech was real quite which was leaving behind the idea that we were about to get bad news. Finally she says "do you want to know what I have found." In unison - YES! "Well, I have found and detected 3 heartbeats - your pregnant with triplets!" Long silence ........... I look at Jennifer - she looks at me........ Long silence. Still speechless the tech offers to show us on the screen what she found. It did not make since to me, but Jennifer (being a certified ultrasound technologist) understood everything we were looking at. By this time, reality has set in - were going to have 3 babies. Here's a picture of what 3 babies look like at 10 weeks.
We were over joyed with the thought of filling this house with babies.
Telling the family....
Larry (Jenn's dad) was the first we told. His response "three.....three.....your having three are you trying to have a litter." Perfect response from a veterinarian. My mother was next, she could not believe it. Her response, "how is Jennifer going to carry three babies." This was not the last we would hear that response - it has been the most common reaction to the news of triplets. Now on to the siblings Lisa and Louis. They were excited about the news. Granny, Aunts, Uncles and so forth.
Telling our friends...
The first time we spilled the beans was on our annual camping trip to Lake Jocassee with the Ballard and Blanks families. Jennifer informed them not to get worried if they hear her get sick in the morning. It did not take the ladies any time to catch on to what she meant. The were excited to know that we were going to have a baby. That excitement turned to shock when we told them it would be 3. Knowing the word would spread fast we then let everyone know what was in our future.
So by now the word is out .... Stay tuned I will continue the story later!!! Ha, Ha, Ha!
